The meeting was lead by Arpad Muranyi

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opens:

- Arpad: Next week we have the DAC summit
  - Our next meeting will be in two weeks

--------------------------
Call for patent disclosure:

- None

-------------
Review of ARs:

- Arpad submit BIRD 123.3 draft 3 to Open Forum
  - Done

- Bob propose method for parameter passing
  - In progress

- Arpad revise BIRD 117 and 118 to generalize parameter file references
  - In progress

- Ambrish update BIRD 145 for pad to pin mapping and other clarifications
  - This is tabled, waiting for the outcome of other issues

-------------
New Discussion:

Parameter Tree Keyword draft BIRD:
- Arpad showed the draft
- Arpad:
  - This is on the ATM website
  - The Model_Specific keyword needs to be removed from an example

BIRD 117.4 draft 4:
- Arpad showed the draft
- Arpad highlighted a sentence about syntax requirements
  - Comments from Radek are folded in
- Arpad: We don't need a rule about Reserved_Parameters or Model_Specific
  - We should have no rules
- Radek: Without rules those keywords might be used
- Arpad: The parenthetical statement could be worded differently
- Radek: Add "if present in the tree" after "...Model_Specific branch names".
  - The other question is about whether to allow referencing other IBIS files
- Arpad: Referenced files are restricted to contain only parameter trees
  - IBIS files would not be allowed
- Arpad: The Model_Specific keyword has been removed from most examples
  - It should be removed from one more place

BIRD 118.3 draft 4:
- Arpad: The same changes must be made here
  - We had talked about eliminating the 120 character limit
  - This could be dealt with later
  - Walter had mention the concept of virtual file names
    - We should discuss that when he is with us
- Kumar: The 120 character line limit is for AMI files?
- Arpad: No we are talking about within IBIS files
- Kumar: We can postpone that
- Arpad: We also could general tree rules that are separate from context-specific rules
- Mike: We would want to have a name for the tree syntax that does not cause confusion
- Arpad: For the [External Model/Circuit] context there really would be no rules

BIRD 150 draft:
- Arpad: We should look at this carefully before we decide to submit

BIRD 125:
- Arpad: This also needs to be considered soon, and we should begin looking at it

BIRD 116 and 122:
- Arpad: This should be discussed when Walter is present

Eye mask definition:
- Arpad: Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity is equivalent to eye mask height
  - It would make sense to include setup/hold in this set
  - Others have previously said otherwise
- Fangyi: Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity affects the actual eye diagram
- Arpad: This eye mask is at the Rx output
- Fangyi: Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity is an Info parameter
  - The tool creates the eye from the model waveform
  - Where does the horizontal eye portion come into play?
- Arpad: The horizontal requirement is relative to clock_ticks
- Kumar: We have to look at how existing standards define eye masks
- Arpad: We can have eye masks that represent how the device actually behaves
- Kumar: The smallest eye mask will have a competitive advantage
- Arpad: Whichever, it would help for tools to read it from the AMI file
- Radek: Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity can be an Out parameter
- Arpad: We still need to add a time aspect
- Arpad showed the definition of Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity
- Fangyi: It is clear how to use this for BER calculation
- Arpad: The same idea can be applied in the time direction
- Fangyi: The eye opening changes depending on time
  - BER is BER at a given time point or voltage
- Andy: Receiver sensitivity is not just vertical
  - There is a time window for the change of voltage
  - Time and voltage can not be separated
  - Voltage sensitivity is specified, and time is implied
- Fangyi: Vertical resolution and slew rate give you time
- Arpad drew an eye mask offset in time from a waveform eye pattern
- Andy: A signal of that shape would not pass receiver sensitivity
  - It is dangerous to specify a horizontal requirement
- Arpad drew signals with very different slew rates
- Andy: This implies that the channel defines the signal
